Takeaways for Leaders:

The most joy you’ll find in leadership is to delegate.

What keeps us from delegating?

  • We enjoy doing the tasks ourselves

  • We do tasks that make us feel accomplished

  • We do not want to burden someone else and feel guilty asking someone to do less enjoyable tasks

  • We might have control issues and trust issues

  • We feel like we don’t have time to teach someone to do these tasks

How do we delegate?

  1. Name the task and name who is going to do that task

  2. Define the responsibilities

  3. Create a timeline of transition

  4. Make the ask

  5. Execute the timeline

  6. Create a follow-up plan and use it

  7. Train them to delegate
